Hi there, I’m Ymke!
I’m a fashion and beauty photographer with a love for creating striking images that grab attention and tell a story. Light is my playground! I’m always shaping, coloring, and controlling it to bring out the best in every shot.
Whether it’s soft and dreamy or bold and dramatic, I love pushing creative boundaries to make something unforgettable.

Even though I’m based in the Netherlands, my work takes me across the globe. I love collaborating with brands, designers, and creatives who want to make a statement, no matter where they are.
Helping Brands Stand Out
Strong visuals make all the difference, especially in this fast-paced world we live in nowadays. I work closely with brands to create images that don’t just look great, but actually connect with their audience. Whether it’s a bold campaign, a polished beauty shoot, or an editorial with a strong narrative, I focus on lighting, composition, and storytelling to bring a brand’s vision to life in a way that feels fresh and memorable.
I love experimenting with lighting techniques, color, and contrast to create images that grab attention and make an impact. By working with top photographers like Lindsay Adler and Chris Knight from New York and constantly refining my skills, I make sure the brands I collaborate with get work that’s interesting, innovative and eyecatching.
Sharing the Knowledge
I don’t just love photography, I love talking about it too! I want others to find their joy and excitement in photography, too. Through YM Academy, I teach photographers of all levels through workshops, demos, private training, photo walks, talks and more.
Alongside this, I also collaborate with brands like Nikon, Profoto, Eizo, Colorwood and Cameranu to spread the photography passion and knowledge even further. This way, I get to combine my creative and technical expertise to help others push their own limits.
When the camera is down
When I’m not shooting, I’m still drawn to creative and visually exciting things. Through photography, I rekindled my passion for dance, rediscovering the joy I felt during the few lessons I took as a child. Beyond the joy it brings, dance influences how I see movement, posture, and elegance of the human body in front of the camera.
That same appreciation for the human body and the arts draws me to live performances like Cirque du Soleil and Holiday on Ice, where light, movement, and storytelling create a sense of magic.
On quieter days, you’ll probably find me lost in a good audiobook or movie. And when I’m in the mood for a thrill, I won’t say no to a rollercoaster ride at a theme park.
